CAREER AND TEACHING

After arriving in New York in 1949, Eva first worked painting tiny roses on cosmetic compacts for 1 cent per flower. Later she went to work at a window dressing studio, painting backdrops and sculptures for store windows for Macy's, Bloomingdales, and other department stores.

As a window dresser for Barton's Candy chains, she decorated windows in all five boroughs. When the company decided to design their own packaging, the art director, Emil Altman chose her to become his assistant. Mr. Altman was a very supportive art director and became her mentor through her whole career until his death.

Eva spent the next 35 years of her professional career designing for major companies in the capacity of a package designer for: Clairol inc. Colgate Palmolive J.C. Penney Co. and many other independent projects.

She has designed textiles, embroidery, china, silverware and greeting cards.
